Monday Morning - Meeting the Coaches
The week begins over breakfast. Coffee is poured, introductions are made and before any coaching starts the team sits down with the group to understand exactly where each golfer is in their game and what they want to get out of the week. This is the first sign that the clinic operates differently. There is no generic warm up drill or one size fits all assessment. Each coach is genuinely interested in the individual player, their tendencies, their goals and what they want to take home. By the time you reach the range for the first session your coaching team already has a clear picture of your game.
The Coaching Format - What Actually Happens
Mornings run for approximately four hours with coaching sessions structured in small groups of three. Each group works with a Tour Professional on a specific skill areas such as driving, iron play, short game, putting or strategy, we build on your skills progressively across the week.
What makes this different from a conventional lesson is the depth and continuity. You are not getting a 45 minute tip session and heading out alone. You are working with an active touring professional across a full morning, with video analysis, structured drills and real time feedback throughout.
The afternoon playing lessons are where everything starts to connect. Your Tour Professional walks the course with your group, coaching your decision making and applying your morning work to actual playing situations on one of Mauritius' finest championship courses.
"This is not theoretical instruction. It is practical, experience led coaching from professionals who continue to play and compete at the highest levels of the game."
By Day Four Something Changes
Most participants notice a shift somewhere around Day 4. The concepts from earlier in the week start to integrate. The adjustments your coach has been working on begin to feel natural rather than deliberate. The afternoon playing sessions stop feeling like lessons and start feeling like golf.
The Individual Progression Review on Day 4 is a structured one-to-one session with your coach. A chance to assess what has changed across the week, identify what to focus on in the final day self-select coaching station and set a clear direction for your practice when you return home.
Tournament Day
Day 5 is the tournament, with 18 holes on the championship course and a £1,000 in prize and hampers up for grabs. It is competitive but warm and friendly still. The week's camaraderie means the group plays like they have known each other for years, and the Tour Professionals are on hand throughout.
The course dinner and prize giving that follows is for many participants the highlight of the week. A proper celebration of five days of genuine, focused work in one of the most beautiful island settings in the world.
Why Mauritius Makes a Difference
There is something about being away from home, away from the office and away from the routine that allows golfers to absorb coaching differently. In Mauritius, surrounded by volcanic landscapes, turquoise waters and year-round sunshine, the conditions for focused improvement are simply better.
The island is extraordinary. And it makes the golf better for it.
